The Importance of Water for Diets – You Will Be Shocked At What You Are About to Discover!   by Madelyn Keyes

The Importance of Water When Dieting – You Will Be Shocked At What You Are About to Discover!

Have you found a real weight loss program that is quick and easy enough to help you drop pounds; with over night success? The greatest secret to burn Calories quicker is right in your home?WATER!

In order for diets to be effective, first you should understand the importance of drinking plenty of water. Our bodies are made up of about 70% of water. Various parts of the body carry different amounts of water in them. Men need more water in their bodies than women, this is because their bodies contain more muscle mass. Water is important for all of us because it performs various functions for your overall health.

Everyone interested in weight loss or dieting should realize that any diet you are on should include drinking plenty of water. An important advantage in drinking water is that it works to carry nutrients through the system, lubricates joints, causes waste to be removed, and works to maintain healthy looking skin. There are dangerous effects if your body does not get enough water because if the kidneys don’t get enough fluid, the liver stops metabolizing fat and starts filtering waste. Intestines that do not receive enough water will begin to draw what they need from the cells in the bowel, which can cause constipation. By drinking plenty of water you will help your colon to function better.

Don’t Get Dehydrated
When your body is dehydrated it affects the high-water-content parts of the body first, symptoms of being dehydrated can include weakness and decreasing mental alertness. If you have small children, dehydration symptoms can include: Decreased urine or frequency and fewer than six wet diapers a day for infants, dry, sticky mouth and signs of being overly sleepy or tired. It is not uncommon for some people, experiencing dehydration can be first expressed through hunger signals and is not always combined with thirst. When you feel like you need a snack, it is very possible your body needs you to drink some water. Try to always drink a full glass before every meal and/or better yet anytime you begin to feel hungry.

You Should Know:
Male bodies have about 60-70% water and adult females have around 55-70%.

Drink Purified Water: Water it is vital to survival and yet most of us take it for granted. A significant fraction of the human body is water. Having enough water for your overall health is one of the best things you can do for yourself. All diet programs should stress the reason drinking water and plenty of it, will help in reaching your goal of losing weight and being healthier. Generally it is not best to use thirst alone as an indicator for when to get a drink. Once you begin to feel thirsty, it’s most likely that your body needing water since it is dehydrated. It is good to know that, when our bodies begin to get older they are less able to sense dehydration and your brain is slowing to process the signals your body is sending. If you find you are always thirsty and experience increased urination, this could be signs of a more serious medical condition. Call your health provider as soon as possible if you experience either of these.

Hydration vs Dehydration: The more you exercise and the more you sweat, the more water you need to drink, and if you suddenly feel very thirsty, it’s because your body already needed water and is taking water from your salivary glands. If you are exercising on days when it is hot outside, water should be replenished every 15 minutes in order to keep muscles strong and help to keep your body hydrated. This is immensely important for long endurance events, which is one reason that cyclists will usually carry water with them. Dehydration can lead to serious health problems, even death. Drinking water may be the most important pieces to the weight loss puzzle. Water contains no calories, fat, or cholesterol, is inexpensive and readily available. It is nature’s appetite suppressant, and drinking plenty of water to help your body burn off more fat.

You Should Know:
A key to successful workouts is to be hydrated before you begin and hydrate again immediately afterwards.

Your Metabolism: Increased activity levels can increase your metabolic rate because you begin to breathe harder and your heart rate also increases. If you do not daily drink the amount of water your liver needs to do its job of metabolizing fat, subsequently it will less body fat is metabolized resulting in more of it being stored in our body. This leads to either weight gain or it can cause you to reach a frustrating plateau in your weight loss journey. To help your body to metabolize fat and lose weight, you need to drink plenty of clean water. This will help your kidney and liver functions. Skipping meals will also negatively affect your metabolism and cause your body to go in to starvation survival mode. Starvation metabolism refers to a slowing of the metabolic rate that is cause by the body sensing it is not getting enough nourishment. The body instinctively goes on alert that it is not getting the nutrition it needs and begins to naturally burn calories more slowly to survive longer. By drinking enough water, the efficiency of your metabolism will greatly improve and the more fat you will be able to burn. When you replenish your body with water it will give your body’s metabolism what it needs to burn more calories. Keep in mind that people who don’t drink enough water will burn calories 2% slower than those who are drinking the adequate amount of water.

Nutrition for Life capitalizes on students’ natural interest in nutrition by demonstrating how it relates directly to their health and daily lives. This book is unique among introductory texts in its presentation of nutrients based on function, rather than chemical classification. Within the vitamins and minerals chapters, micronutrients are organized by their various functions within the body (such as tissue guardians, antioxidants, energy generators, essential electrolytes, mineral power plants, blood fortifiers, bone builders), enabling students to think about them conceptually while also understanding their basic roles in the body. This discourages rote memorization and promotes fuller and more accessible understanding of each micronutrients’ importance. For those instructors who still want their students to understand the traditional chemical organization, the micronutrient chapters include detailed tables and overviews of water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, and the trace and major minerals.Beyond the functional approach, Nutrition for Life includes new applied features such as Eating Right All Day, Foods You Don’t Know You Love Yet, and end-of-chapter Cooking videos, which gives students all they need to know to put good nutrition information into action. Scaling Up Nutrition: What Will It Cost?

Scaling Up Nutrition: What Will It Cost?

$10.69

Action against malnutrition is needed more than ever. An additional US10.3 billion a year is required from public resources to mount a successful attack against undernutrition on a worldwide scale. This would benefit over 360 million children in the 36 countries with the highest burden of undernutrition home to 90 percent of the stunted children worldwide and prevent 1.1 million child deaths. Since early childhood offers a special window of opportunity to improve nutrition, the bulk of the investment needs to be targeted between pre-pregnancy until two years of age.Scaling Up Nutrition: What Will It Cost? offers suggestions on how to raise these resources. This worthy investment will yield high returns in the form of thriving children, healthier families, and more productive workers. And it is essential to make progress on the nutrition and child mortality Millennium Development Goals and to protect critical human capital in developing economies. The human and financial costs of further neglect will be very high. This call for greater investment in nutrition is also opportune, at a time when global efforts to strengthen health systems provide a unique opportunity to scale up integrated packages of health and nutrition interventions, with common delivery platforms, and lower costs.Scaling Up Nutrition: What Will It Cost? has benefited from the expertise of many international agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and research institutions. The cooperation of so many practitioners is evidence of a growing recognition of the need to invest in nutrition interventions, and a growing consensus about how to deliver effective programs. This book will be of interest to policy makers, nutritionists, government officials, and all those interested in improving child nutrition and child health.

Lunch Lessons: Changing The Way We Feed Our Children

Lunch Lessons: Changing The Way We Feed Our Children

$17.99

Foreword by Dr. Mehmet Oz. Its the biggest public health crisis in America the daily headache for millions of parents and the challenge we cant fail to meet. If the eating habits of Americas children dont change now theyll soon be on the wrong end of the statistics. The percentage of obese children in America today has more than doubled since 1970. Over 35% of our nations children are overweight 25% are obese and 14% have Type II Diabetes a condition previously seen primarily in adults. Processed foods favored by schools and busy parents for their convenience not only contribute to obesity; they also contain additives and preservatives and are tainted with herbicide and pesticide residues that are believed to cause a variety of illnesses including cancer. People in America today simply do not know how to eat properly and they dont seem to have time to figure out how so fast food home meal replacements and processed foods take the place of good healthy cooking and there couldnt be a worse alternative. Many parents rely on the USDA approved National School Lunch program to be providing their children with nutritionally balanced healthful meals. The trouble is theyre not. While most schools continue to try to meet better nutritional guidelines theyre still not measuring up and many are actually contributing to the crisis weve seen emerging over the last decade. A good 78% of the schools in America do not actually meet the USDAs nutritional guidelines which is no surprise considering the fact that schools keep the cost of lunch to between $1 and $1.50 per child. School lunch menus have undergone some changes in recent years and are marginally improved but still nearly all our schools continue to operate under the misguided notion that kids actually prefer to eat frozen processed fried sugary foods. Chef Ann Cooper has emerged as one of the nations leading most influential and most respected advocates for changing how our kids eat. In Lunch Lessons she offers a better way. Lunch Lessons is a recipe-filled guide that inspires us to reconnect with the origins and importance of good food in our lives. It is divided into seven chapters. An introduction gives readers a brief history of the origins of the national school lunch program. Chapter One is a primer on basic childhood nutrition. The middle chapters offer healthful home-tested recipes arranged by season according to the school year (Fall Winter Spring and finally Summer) and recipes will be further categorized in Breakfast Snacks and Lunch sections to reflect seasonal availability. Chapter VII Beyond the Lunch Pail is a jumping off point for starting and maintaining organic gardens as well as composting and will address what parents can do in and around their homes to reduce their childrens exposure to harmful chemicals. Chapter VIII A Season for Change will be full of information on how parents can begin to affect change in their local school l

ExcerptNobody ever saw the message-torp. It wasn't to be expected. It came in on a course that extended backward to somewhere near the Rift where there used to be Huks and for a very, very long way it had traveled as only message-torps do travel. It hopped half a light-year in overdrive, and came back to normality long enough for its photocells to inspect the star-filled universe all about. Then it hopped another half light-year, and so on. For a long, long time it traveled in this jerky fashion.Eventually, moving as it did in the straightest of straight lines, its photocells reported that it neared a star which had achieved first-magnitude brightness. It paused a little longer than usual while its action-circuits shifted. Then it swung to aim for the bright star, which was the sol-type sun Varenga. The torp sped toward it on a new schedule. Its overdrive hops dropped to light-month length. Its pauses in normality were longer. They lasted almost the fiftieth of a second. When Varenga had reached a suitably greater brightness in the message-torp's estimation, it paused long enough to blast out its recorded message. It had been designed for this purpose and no other. Its overdrive hops shortened to one light-hour of distance covered. Regularly, its transmitter flung out a repetition of what it had been sent so far to say. In time it arrived within the limits of the Varenga system. Its hops diminished to light-minutes of distance only. It ceased to correct its course. It hurtled through the orbits of all the planets, uttering silently screamed duplicates of the broadcasts now left behind, to arrive later. It did not fall into the sun, of course. The odds were infinitely against such a happening. It pounded past the sun, shrieking its news, and hurtled on out to the illimitable emptiness beyond. It was still squealing when it went out of human knowledge forever.****The state of things was routine. Sergeant Madden had the traffic desk that morning. He would reach retirement age in two more years, and it was a nagging reminder that he grew old. He didn't like it. There was another matter. His son Timmy had a girl, and she was on the way to Varenga IV on the Cerberus, and when she arrived Timmy would become a married man. Sergeant Madden contemplated this prospect. By the time his retirement came up, in the ordinary course of events he could very well be a grandfather. He was unable to imagine it. He rumbled to himself. The telefax hummed and ejected a sheet of paper on top of other sheets in the desk's "In" cubicle. Sergeant Madden glanced absently at it. The Place of Lewis Carroll in Children's Literature

The Place of Lewis Carroll in Children’s Literature

$90.39

In this volume, Jan Susina examines the importance of Lewis Carroll and his popular Alice books to the field of children’s literature. From a study of Carroll’s juvenilia to contemporary multimedia adaptations of Wonderland, Susina shows how the Alice books fit into the tradition of literary fairy tales and continue to influence children’s writers. In addition to examining Carroll’s books for children, these essays also explore his photographs of children, his letters to children, his ill-fated attempt to write for a dual audience of children and adults, and his lasting contributions to publishing. The book addresses the important, but overlooked facet of Carroll’s career as an astute entrepreneur who carefully developed an extensive Alice industry of books and non-book items based on the success of Wonderland, while rigorously defending his reputation as the originator of his distinctive style of children’s stories.
