Project You Type 2: Nutritional Tips For People With Type 2 Diabetes by Tiffany Brunskole
Implementing healthy nutritional tips into your life is a must for anybody who has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Having a Healthy Diet can turn the disease around and help you to fight off any medical conditions that come with type 2 diabetes. There is a program that the American Diabetes Association has created along side fitness expert Kathy Smith called Project You Type 2 that not only provides workouts for people with type 2 diabetes but also gives extensive nutritional tips and guidance as well.
Project You Type 2 is a lifestyle program for anybody that has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or has been diagnosed as prediabetic. It comes with a cookbook that has a variety of different meals that are healthy for type 2 diabetics and also has the nutritional tips that you need to succeed and win against the disease. Here are just some of the nutritional tips that people with type 2 diabetes should follow.
Before you buy any foods at the grocery store or put anything in your mouth, be sure to read the food label on the package. This is were you find the vital information that you need to know if the food fits into your diet. Remember that some packages of food will have more than one serving per the container, so you need to make sure that you are appropriately determining what the nutritional value is of the serving size you are going to eat and not just one serving of the food.
The guidelines that the American Diabetes Association has set forth along with Project You Type 2 are basically the same healthy diet guidelines that every person should follow. This diet should be rich in healthy vegetables of all different colors. It is good to get a variety of different vegetables in your diet so that you do not get bored and you get a greater variety of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. When eating vegetables, be sure that you eat them in a healthy manner, such as raw, steamed, or grilled. Stay away from sautéing your vegetables in butter or in too much oil and also stay away from any fried vegetables. If you are going to sauté your vegetables use only a little bit of olive oil or a cooking spray, so that you do not add saturated fat to your meal.
Most people with type 2 diabetes know what kind of foods that they should be eating, but have a hard time actually cooking them and coming up with recipe ideas. This is when it benefits to have a resource like Project You Type 2 to help you with recipe ideas and what foods you should be eating.
